Build a voice menu (“press 1 for sales, 2 for support”), business hours and an after-hours message. Get a ready Asterisk dialplan, a FreeSWITCH menu and dialplan, and the prompt texts.

Menu options

How the menu works

The call is answered; during business hours the greeting and menu play and the PBX waits for a key. A wrong key plays a hint and repeats; after a few attempts the call goes to the fallback. After hours an announcement plays, then voicemail or another destination.

How to install it

  1. Asterisk: add the context to extensions.conf, put the prompts into /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/custom/, run dialplan reload. Route the inbound number to the context with the Goto line at the end.
  2. FreeSWITCH: put the menu into autoload_configs/ivr.conf.xml, the dialplan into dialplan/public, the files into sounds/custom, run reloadxml.
  3. Queues: queues.conf in Asterisk, mod_callcenter in FreeSWITCH. The provider trunk comes from the SIP trunk generator.

How many agents you need

Agents per queue for a given load and waiting time come from the Erlang calculator.
