How auto-provisioning works
- The phone boots and gets an address from DHCP, with the provisioning server (HTTP, HTTPS or TFTP) in option 66.
- It asks for the common file first (Yealink y0000000000XX.cfg, Grandstream cfg.xml), then its own by MAC: 805ec0123456.cfg or cfg805ec0123456.xml.
- It applies the settings and registers to the PBX. Keep shared settings (NTP, VLAN, codecs) in the common file and the account in the per-MAC file.
If the phone ignores option 66, check that DHCP Active / DHCP options is on in its auto-provision settings and that the server serves the file without a login. The MAC is on the label underneath; the vendor of any MAC: MAC lookup.
The PBX side: SIP trunk generator, IVR builder. Registered but no audio: NAT test, VoIP diagnostics.
