MikroTik: login failure for user admin from 198.51.100.7 via ssh

What it means

Someone tried to log in to the router with a wrong password, here over SSH (also winbox, web, telnet, api).

Why it happens

• Password guessing from the internet: management services are open on the WAN.
• A saved password in Winbox or a script is outdated.

How to fix it

1. Close management on WAN: /ip service set ssh,telnet,www,api,winbox address=192.168.88.0/24, or a firewall input rule allowing only your networks.
2. Disable unused services (telnet, www, api, ftp).
3. Rename or disable the admin user and use keys for SSH.
