If the stream does not open
- Turn RTSP on in the camera settings: Reolink and Tapo ship with it off. For Tapo create a camera account in the app (Advanced settings → Camera account); the TP-Link cloud password will not work.
- The generator encodes @ : / # in the password; if you type the URL by hand, use %40 %3A %2F %23.
- Test on a computer: VLC → Open network stream, or the ffplay command below. If VLC plays it and Home Assistant does not, try TCP transport.
- Keep cameras in their own network without internet access: MikroTik generator with VLANs.
