Home Assistant smart home

Tools for a Home Assistant smart home: remote access configs, an ESPHome generator, a Zigbee coordinator picker, an MQTT client in the browser, a YAML checker and common errors explained.

Where to start

  1. A server: Home Assistant Green, a Raspberry Pi 4/5 or a mini PC. Install Home Assistant OS: it has add-ons (Zigbee2MQTT, Mosquitto, ESPHome) and backups built in.
  2. A radio for sensors: a Zigbee stick, see the coordinator picker.
  3. DIY sensors on an ESP32: ESPHome generator.
  4. Access from outside: remote access. Put sensors and cameras in their own Wi-Fi/VLAN: MikroTik generator.
