What it means
Home Assistant reaches the address but the device does not accept the API connection on port 6053.
Why it happens
- The device is rebooting in a loop (power, a bad sensor wiring) or still flashing.
- The device is on another network and a firewall blocks TCP 6053 from Home Assistant.
- The address changed: DHCP gave the device a new IP.
How to fix it
- Open the device log in the ESPHome dashboard: look for reboots and exceptions.
- Allow TCP 6053 from Home Assistant to the IoT network.
- Reserve the IP in the router; then reload the integration in Settings → Devices → ESPHome.
